Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin was born in the city of Winnipeg, but was raised in Wellington. She made her acting debut as Flora McGrath, The romantic-drama film The Piano. Paquin is a native of New Zealand, born in Wellington but was born and raised in Winnipeg began her acting career on screen in The Piano. At age 11 years old, she became the youngest Academy Award winner ever for Best Actress. In response to an open audition call to play the character, she got it as Flora McGrath, the daughter of a mute Scottish piano player who moved from Scotland to New Zealand in mid-19th-century to marry. It was her first role at the age of nine, and she had no previous experience as an actor. Following her move to New Zealand, in the United States, she became an adolescent. Paquin played the lead role in the film Fly Away Home in 1996 and had a minor part as Jane Eyre when she was still a toddler. Paquin was the character Frankie Addams as a child in the TV adaptation of Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin also had a role of Queen of Spain, in Steven Spielbergs 1997 movie Amistad. She portrayed teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000) as well as A Walk on the Moon (2000). The actress played her character groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
