Whitney Elizabeth Houston (born 9 August 1993 in Newark New Jersey) is the daughter of gospel star Cissy Houston. Whitney's mother and her began to sing professionally together at New Hope Baptist Church, Newark at the age of fifteen years old. They performed backing vocals for Chaka Kans' 1978 hit Im Every Woman. She then went on to sing backing vocals with Jermaine, Lou Rawls, and her mother.
